Forecasters never really found Subtropical Depression Andrea to be a serious threat to the United States. Some have said that it would bring welcomed rain to areas of Florida that are experiencing droughts and numerous brush fires. Subtropical Depression Andrea has weakened since last night, when it was 45 mph and a Subtropical Storm. The storm is now has maximum sustained winds of 35 mph and is heading out to sea, away from the east coat of Florida. This storm should just bring to mind that we are entering Hurricane season and that we need to make a list of emergency items and make emergency evacuation plans.

“Prior to 2002 subtropical storms were not given names, but the National Hurricane Center issued forecasts and warnings similar to those for tropical cyclones. Now they are given names from the tropical cyclone list.”
Forecasters did predict that this would be a very active hurricane season, but the official hurricane season has not even begun. Hurricane season runs from June 1st to October 30th. The predictions for Hurricane season 2006 were high, but we had a fairly inactive hurricane season. We will have to just wait and see how everything plays out for this hurricane season, but at the same time we all need to be prepared.
