Florida’s Hispanic Heritage Month Essay and Art Contests

For Hispanic Heritage month, school-aged children have the opportunity to enter the Hispanic Heritage Month essay contest or art contest.  Winners will receive a 4-Year Florida College Plan scholarship.

Hispanic Heritage Month Art Contest

The art contest is open to students in grades K-3. Students must submit an original work of art drawn from another work that is not created by the student.

Hispanic Heritage Month Essay Contest

Older children can enter the Hispanic Heritage Month essay contest. Students will write an essay that discusses how a Hispanic American, who is a Florida, has contributed to theirs There are three different grade level-based submission groups for the essay contest. Grades 4-5 will be grouped together, grades 6-8 will be grouped together, finally, grades 9-12 will be group together. The basic requirements for the essay contest are the same, no matter what grade level the student is in.

First, the essay must be 500 words or less. Secondly, the student needs a letter of recommendation. Third, the student must write a personal essay that is 200 to 250 words that describe how they have helped in his or her community.

The deadline for the submission of the art or essay is Monday, October 11, 2021, at 5 PM.
