August 3rd through August 5th is the tax free weekend for Florida this year. During this time shoppers will pay no sales tax on back to school items. Florida’s Department of Revenue has a list of items that exempt and taxable. You will get the sale tax only on individual items that are $75 or less; and school supplies that are $15 or less. Your total can be any amount, but the cost of each item must meet the preceding guidelines.
Many stores know that this weekend is a huge draw for people all over the state. You show expect to see some sales this weekend. Even if you have a little one that is not going to school, you can get tax exempt items like diaper bags, and diapers. One thing that may surprise shoppers is that there will be no tax exemptions on book this year.
