Today is National Donut Day and both Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts are giving away free donuts. The day was not started by any of these two companies, but by the Salvation Army in 1938 as a way to raise funds for the needy and to honor the women that served donuts to the World War I soldiers.
- Krispy Kreme is giving away one donut per person today at participating Krispy Kreme locations. No purchase is required for the free donut.
- Dunkin Donuts is also giving away one free donut at their participating restaurants, but you have to purchase a drink to get the free donut.
Hopefully this does not ruin anyone’s diet. 🙂
You can visit the companies’ websites to find the locations that are closest to you.
How did I miss “free donut day”? I think a tiny gesture, such as giving out a free donut, is an easy way to make someone’s day a little brighter. I think it’s great that the Salvation Army, Dunkin Donuts, and Krispy Kreme is working together. Now, I’ll have to mark my calender for next year so I don’t miss this day again!
Yeah, Free donuts. Don’t you just love em.
Is that every donut day? Ive never heard this before? I want a free donut
Can’t wait, June 3, 2012. National donut day returns.
That’s a really good idea to raise money and a nice gesture to those serving, dating back to 1938.
