We’re Back!!! Bolts Heading Back to the Eastern Conference Finals

It’s about time. Our Tampa Bay Lightning is back in the playoffs and this time they mean business. A hard scoring five to three victory at the St Pete Times Arena has put the Washington Capitals to bed in only four games and now must wait to see who they will face in the Eastern Conference finals; Boston has a chance on Friday to sweep Philadelphia as well. The Bolts have won their last seven games after having their back to the wall in round one against the Penguins, being down 3-1 then rallying back and into the semi-finals. Ryan Malone put the Lightning on top early Wednesday with a goal at 12:37 in the first period from a pass by Vincent Lecavalier that forced the Caps on the defensive for the remainder of the game. Sean Bergenheim scored two goals proving once again that the Islanders’ loss is our gain.

The last time the Bolts have made it to the conference finals was in 2004 where they defeated the Philadelphia Flyers in seven games on their way to Tampa Bay’s first (and only, so far) Stanley Cup. This writer feels that it is time for their second Cup.
