Tampa Bay Buccaneers Lose Another Game, But Still Playoff Hopeful

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in jeopardy of missing the NFL playoffs after a 23-20 overtime loss to the Detroit Lions at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday afternoon.   The Bucs got touchdowns from wide receiver Mike Williams and running back LeGarrette Blount to take a 14-10 halftime lead.  In the second half the Bucs fell down 17-14 after a touchdown from the Lions running back Maurice Morris.  The Bucs tied the game on a 30-yard field goal from Bucs place kicker Connor Barth.  Barth followed that up by giving the Bucs a 20-17 lead with less than two minutes left in the game.  The Lions drove down the field and tied the game with just seconds left on the game clock.  Detroit won the coin toss and drove down the field to win the game on a 34-yard field goal from Lions kicker Dave Rayner.

For the Bucs to make the playoffs, they have to win the next two games against Seattle and at New Orleans.  Then they need to hope the New York Giants lose their last two games at Green Bay and at Washington.  The Bucs do not control their own destiny when it comes to the NFL playoffs, but can still reach a goal that head- coach Raheem Morris set for the team at the beginning of training camp in July.  Morris began talking publicly about “A Race to 10” in August as a way to motivate his players to win 10 games this season.  The Bucs may not make the playoffs this season, but can still reach a goal that no one thought possible at the beginning of the season.  No one except Raheem Morris and the 2010 Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
