The Hernando County Board of County Commissioners is now accepting applications from individuals interested in serving on a Citizens Advisory Task Force for the Small Cities, Community Development Block Grant Program. The positions are open for residents of Hernando County who are interested in providing input relative to all phases of the Community Development Block Grant application and process.
The purpose of the Citizens Advisory Task Force is to encourage community members and residents, particularly low and moderate income persons who reside in blighted areas of the County, to provide input relative to all phases of the project process. The members will also assist local government staff and/or consultant in overseeing the project, including development of plans, procedures, public hearings and amendments, if necessary
Applications are available in the County Health & Human Services office, located at 20 North Main Street – Room 161, Brooksville, Florida, or by calling 352-540-4338. Applications are also available on the County’s website at http://www.hernandocounty.us/bocc/committees.htm
Applications must be returned to the Health & Human Services office at the above address no later than 5 P.M. on Monday, May 17, 2010. Applicants must be residents and registered voters in Hernando County. Additionally, this is a voluntary non-paid position.
Citizens of Hernando taking advantage of this opportunity will have a chance to have their opinion heard. No better way to bring about a change, than be an active participant of change. Other counties have their own advisory boards and citizens can contact their local county government about those positions. Earlier this year, Hillsborough County recruited citizens for several advisory boards.
