Hillsborough County “Ought to be a Law” Student Bill-Drafting Competition

  • Social studies students from Hillsborough County public high schools will participate in Representative Kevin Ambler’s 3rd Annual “Ought to be a Law” bill-drafting competition 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Raymond O. Shelton School Administrative Center auditorium.
  • Students will have three minutes to present their bill to a panel of Hillsborough County Legislative Delegation members.
  • Legislators will ask students questions about their proposals before selecting the bill that Representative Ambler and Senator Victor Crist will sponsor for the 2007 legislative session, which begins Tuesday, March 6.
  • The competition was created by Representative Ambler in 2004 and started with only one school.
