Florida has the fith worst graduation rate in the United States. The current rate, 57.5 percent, is less than the national average of 69.6 percent. Only four other states- Georgia, Nevada, New Mexico and South Carolina-actually did worst than Florida.
Here are the graduation rates for some local Tampa Bay school districts.

- Pasco County-56.5%

The graduation rate does not surprise a lot of people; it just gives hard evidence that the students’ needs are not being met. I believe that it is matter of parental ivolvement as well as school involvement. The quote,”It takes a village to raise a child” , was not born out of mere philosophy. To actually repair the school system and help our children it is going to take everyone’s effort. It is definately going to take a state to raise our children
