Tampa Bay Area Hospitals Offering Complimentary Postnatal Massage

At Morton Plant Hospital and Mease Countryside Hospital, Morton Plant Mease’s women’s services are pampering new moms with postnatal massages offered after delivery in their own private room.

“We have had a positive response from new moms,” said Marcia Albanese, Morton Plant Mease director of women’s and children’s services. “Having a baby is a wonderful experience but it can be overwhelming and our new mom massages can help mothers have a more comfortable experience.”

The complimentary postnatal massages are done by Morton Plant Mease Wellness Centers’ licensed massage therapists. “Postnatal massages are beneficial to new moms after giving birth,” said Stephanie Van Zandt, M.D., Morton Plant Mease Health Care OB/GYN. “Postnatal massages help reduce stress, fatigue, backaches, headaches, postpartum depression and reduce fluid retention for new moms.”

Morton Plant Mease also offers a wide array of support groups for new moms and Baby Boot Camp, a fitness class to help new moms get back into shape after having a baby. Baby Boot Camp incorporates strength-training exercises with cardiovascular drills and core exercises designed to have fun with your child, ages six weeks to four years old. Morton Plant Mease is one of the first hospital-based Baby Boot Camp programs in the nation. For more information on services, visit www.IExpectMore.org.

Of Course you should contact the individual hospitals to find out the individual services that do offer to new moms.     Each hospital has different postnatal and prenatal options for parents.   Postanantal massages are just some of the things to consider.

Some things that other parents have considered when choosing where to deliver:

  • The distance  between home and the hospital
  • The level of  NICU onsite
  • Whether their doctor’s office has privileges at that hospital
  • The C-section rate of that hospital
  • Whether guests have to pay for parking
  • The friendliness of the staff
  • Whether the dads get free meals
  • Whether the rooms are private
  • If there are birthing tubs

There are other things that a mom may consider and if you have suggestions on what moms should look for or just a just a general comment on this post please comment below.

No More Publix Curbside in Tampa

According to tbo.com Publix has decide to discontinue their curbside service.    They were testing one store in the Citrus Park area of Tampa to see if it would be a viable option for their other stores.   During the trial period customers could order groceries online.  They could then park in a designated spot in Publix and have their groceries brought to the car.   The Tampa location and two locations in Georgia were part of the trial period.   As of January 28th the curbside service will no longer be available.

I am sad to see the service go; I was hoping the service would be extended into other areas, but maybe the $7.99 service fee was too much for those trying to save money.   For those are looking to save time on grocery shopping there are concierge services in the Tampa Bay area that will buy and deliver groceries for a fee.  The fees start at $20.

24 Hours of Disney Magic Kingdom

This leap year two Disney Parks are doing something cool by opening for 24 hours straight.  Magic Kingdom in Florida and Disneyland in California will  be part of the event when both will be open February 29 6 a.m. to 6 a.m.  March 1, 2012 local time.     Normally Magic Kingdom is opened from 9 a.m. to 9p.m., with extended hours for Disney Hotel guests during certain mornings and nights of the week-these extended hours are usually just an hour or two.     What will guests do for the 24 hours and will anyone be able to stay awake for 24hours straight?  Who knows?   This is something I would have loved to have done  when I was a teenager.  Remember staying up about this long for Grad Night?
