TECO(Tampa Electric Company) is requesting that they be allowed to raise their rates by 10%. The company last asked for a rate increase in 2008. The current request will go before Florida’s Public Service Commission later this year. If approved, the rate increase will not be seen until January 2014.
According to TECO, the increased rate will bring in an extra $135 million. Hopefully they can use that money to find ways to prevent squirrels from knocking out the power.
