City of Tampa Celebrating the Tampa Bay Lightning with Free Public Event

The Tampa Bay Lightning are making their fans very proud as they continue to play fantastically on the way to another Stanley Cup win.  On Saturday, May 14th, the Lightning will be playing in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Boston Bruins at the St. Pete Times Forum.  However, celebrating for the Lightning making it this far will be happening this Friday the 13th in downtown Tampa.

Tampa Mayor, Bob Buckhorn, will have a banner ceremony Friday at 11am in front of Tampa Municipal in downtown Tampa.  The banner will be hoisted on the Tampa Municipal Building.  Following the banner hoisting fans will be treated to a free lunch in Lykes Gaslight Square Park.  During the lunch Thunderbug, the Lightning Girls, and the Lightning Street Team will be in attendance. 

Another thing that fans will not want to miss is the Lightning themed sand sculpture that will be at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park.  Start at 7:30 Team Sandtastic will be sculpting a Lightning sand sculpture out of 12 tons of sand at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park.
