Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am Continues Tradition of Helping Tampa Bay Charities

Four different Tampa Bay charities will benefit from the 2009 Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am. The Child Abuse Council, Diabetic Charitable Services, Everyday Blessings, and Judeo Christian Health Clinic will all receive a portion of the proceeds from this year’s event.

This year’s tournament will take place April 13-19. Derrick Brooks, Ronde Barber, Jim Courier, Michael J. Fox, George Lopez, Nancy Lopez, Stone Phillips, Jerry Rice, Emmitt Smith, Vinny Testaverde, Joe Theismann, and Mark Wahlberg are the celebrity participants. Brooks, former Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker, will be defending his 2008 amateur championship win.

Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am is a part of the Champions Tour.

The Champions Tour’s primary purpose as an entity of the PGA TOUR is to provide significant competitive and earnings opportunities for players age 50 and older; to protect the integrity of the game; and to help grow the reach of the game in the U.S. and around the world. In addition to providing competitive opportunities for its membership, Champions Tour events also generate significant sums of money for charity.

For over 20 years the Outback Gold Pro-Am has been able to raise over $8 million for charities in the Tampa Bay area.

If you are unable to make it out to TPC Tampa Bay, you can watch portions of the event on the Golf channel on Friday and then on NBC on Saturday and Sunday.

You can visit the Outback Gold Pro-Am web site to find out about how to purchase tickets.
