Mother’s Day is less than 3 weeks away and Tampa Bay Parent wants all mothers to have a happy Mothers Day. The first thing to having a great Mother’s Day, for the mothers in your life, is to remember them. Each mother is a woman first. Make the day special by thinking about what makes this woman feel happy and what makes this woman smile.
Being around other mothers I have heard some say that they would love a day of pampering at the spa or even a trip to the salon. You can take care of the kids for a day while mom goes out and has someone take care of her.
If your budget does not allow for a salon gift, then you can provide a relaxing day for mom. Make sure the house is clean and the meals are prepared without her having to lift a finger. You can also fix her a warm and relaxing bubble bath.
If all else fails, you can always get her flowers and a card. If you are personally picking up flowers, then please make sure you do not get wilted flowers from the store.
Mother’s Day is about acknowledging the mothers in your life and letting them know you appreciate everything they do, and have done. Mothers, on Mother’s Day, and everyday want to feel appreciated.

King high located in Tampa, Florida is tired of being criticized and labeled as a bad school. According to a tbo.com report some parent in Temple Terrace would prefer to send their child to private school rather than go to King High School. ” Still, some city leaders believe the district should change King’s attendance boundary to make the school smaller and contain mostly Temple Terrace students.”
The school sits near neighborhoods with high crime rates and known gang activity. But students say those problems don’t carry onto campus.
They said their student body boasts many accomplishments, including award-winning band and drama programs, piloting conflict resolution programs and breaking records for charity drives.

Give yourself a self breast exam. Gynecologists do recommend the women perform a Breast Self-Exam every month. You can make a note to perform it every month on a certain date. The American Cancer Society has online guide on how to perform a self breast exam.
“The American Cancer Society recommends beginning in their 20s, women should be told about the benefits and limitations of BSE. Women should be aware of how their breasts normally look and feel and should report any breast changes to a health professional as soon as they are found. Finding a breast change does not mean there is a cancer.”

According to a report in New England’s Journal of Medicine researchers in Both England and the United States have seen a correlation between the use of hormonal treatment, traditionally used for menopause, and the chances of getting breast cancer.
“New U.S. government numbers showed that breast cancer rates leveled off in 2004 after plunging in 2003 — the year after millions of women stopped taking hormones because a big study tied them to higher heart, stroke and breast cancer risks.”
“At the same time, a study of nearly 1 million women in the United Kingdom showed that those who took hormones after menopause were 20 percent more likely to develop ovarian cancer or die from it than women who never took the pills.”
The American Cancer Society recommends that all women over the age of 40 get an annual mammogram. All women should give themselves a Breast self exam and have a breast exam with their annual well woman visit.
“Women at high risk (greater than 20% lifetime risk) should get an MRI and a mammogram every year.” You can talk to your doctor about your medical history, and family medical history to determine your risk factors. An informed patient is always the best patient.
