Have you seen the figures from the gas companies. Chevron has had a record quarter.
This is a quote taken from TamBays10.com
“California-based Chevron is reporting its first quarter profit rose 49 percent to $4 billion. Revenue topped $54 billion, a 31percent increase from a year earlier. It
is joining two rivals, ConocoPhillips and Exxon Mobil, which reported similarly stunning first-quarter profits. Combined, the three oil companies earned $15.7 billion during the three months of the year.”
Now we all knew that the money was not going into thin air. Somebody had to be getting fatter pockets. Now when working people have to wonder how they are going to budget so that they can afford gas and these big companies are getting fatter pocket something is definitely wrong. Instead of looking at the small gas stations from price gouging we really need to take a look at those higher up in the big offices and see what they may be doing to increase gas prices at the consumer level.

The Pinellas Suncoast Trasit Authority,PSTA, and the Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority , HARTline, have seen a large increase of bus riders since gas prices have risen to such high levels.   There are several bus routes available in each county.  Both Transit agencies offer the monthly bus passes that may become cheaper than driving to work.

The drought continues in Tampa. It has become so serious that the city council are considering limiting the watering of lawns to just once a week. Currently, watering is restricted to only two times a week.
If you drive around Tampa you just see these pitiful looking lawns. I can not wait for the regular rains to come back to Tampa Bay. It seems that, in the last few years, the only time that we get rain is when a hurricane or a tropical storm moves through the area. I’m sure I am speaking for everyone in Tampa Bay when I say that we have had enough of the those nasty Hurricanes.
I am currently researching ways to keep my yard from looking like a desert without violating watering restrictions. I have seen yards that have been coverted completely to concrete and other yards covered completely with mulch. My mind is not leaning toward any of those ideas yet.
Many plants that require low watering are available, but I have not heard of any grass that requires only one week of watering. If you here of any let me know

Don’t think I’m completely disgusting. Let me explain. Today we went to the MOSI Kids In Charge. It was fun. The girls loved it. What really got me was all the little exhibits about poop, doo-doo, poo poo, whatever you want to call it. It was fake and they did explain the science behind it but I was like ewe….
Years ago I would not have reacted like that. Well, that just through me for a loop. The fact that I was disgusted by fake poop was telling me I am getting old. How did it happen? You tell me. Maybe it has to do with the fact that have had to change poopy diapers. I don’t know at this point.
What I know is I do not want to become one of those people that are still stuck in the decade of their teens; I also don’t want to have the personality of an ancient-year-old. I did make-up “ancient-year-old”. That means that the mind is still working. As long as the minds working there is hope.
Next time I go to MOSI I will smile and face the poop.

Many Christians have chosen to start meeting in there homes instead of traditional churches. These Christians feel more confortable in these smaller more relaxed settings. TBO.com has done a special report on the home church movement. There are several books written about the topic. Some traditional churches have included home churches as a regular extension of there traditional church program.
Home churches are not a quick fix to the ailments of the traditional church, but is a way for the community of Christian believers to establish a personal connection with one another. A home church requires effort to start and continue growth and development.

Can you believe that it is being said? Florida has a   “nonfarm jobless rate of 3.2†percent. According to an article in the Miami Herald, Florida has one of the best unemployment rates in the nation. Wow!  Now, think of what the job market was several years ago. The whole thing was frustrating. I had several friends that were unemployed and underemployed.   It did not seem that the sun would come out tomorrow, but it did.    We certainly are improving considerably.   Now, let’s hope for an increase in salaries to keep up with the increase in house prices.

Hey guys. Unless, you live under a rock, you must have heard that Katie Couric is leaving “The Today Show”  and taking over the CBS evening news. The change happens in May when her contract is up.   They are apparently trying to replace her with the View’s co-host Meredith Viera.  I will miss Katie in the morning, but I do wish her all the best for the evening news.
Meredith does have some big shoes to fill, but I honestly think she can do the job. She can be fun and professional, which is what the job requires. I wonder what the “View” is going to do without her. Now this is all speculation. Although Katie Couric did announce her departure from “Today”,  Meredith did not say she was leaving the “View.”

Okay. Maybe we haven’t known each other to speak so frankly about a subject like baby making. But we will. Seriously, I came acroos a newsweek article titled”
The Ancient Art of Making Babies: It’s just amazing what some people will try to get that boy or girl of their dreams.” It was interesting. Some little tidbits I have heard of in the past, others were new to me. Do they really work? Who knows? As long as it works for you it works.
One suggestion is that men avoid hot tubs and tight clothes if they would like to have a boy. Now, in the 80s and 70s, when me wore pants that looked painted on, did they have a reduction in the amount of boys being created. Well, if the fear of not having any sons keeps men from wearing tight pants, then that wives tale or theory is worth its weight in gold.
