<It is not even June, and the first Atlantic Storm has developed. Subtropical Storm Andrea developed off the Southeastern portion of Florida and has had maximum sustained winds of 45 mph.

“Prior to 2002 subtropical storms were not given names, but the National Hurricane Center issued forecasts and warnings similar to those for tropical cyclones. Now they are given names from the tropical cyclone list.”

Forecasters did predict that this would be a very active hurricane season, but the official hurricane season has not even begun. Hurricane season runs from June 1st to October 30th. The predictions for Hurricane season 2006 were high, but we had a fairly inactive hurricane season. We will have to just wait and see how everything plays out for this hurricane season, but at the same time we all need to be prepared.
